Janis Joplin "Pearls's Necklace" ©1995-2014 Bill Foss all rights reserved 'Original Works' and 'Derivative Works' copyright(s) held with the Library of Congress.

36" x 66" acrylic paint with metallics, pearlescents and flourescents on two seperate canvases, and framed in a custom poplar frame.

This is the 4th painting in the Rock & Roll Series and completes what came to be known as the 27 club. Known as Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Janis having all passed at age 27. This is Janis in her very own stain glass window. With saloon doors for wings, and surrounded by hummingbirds and a butterfly on her shoulder which symbolize transformation. Surrounded by a stain glass-like collage of vines, moons and yin/yang symbols, while she looks out into the world through rose colored glasses and standing in a field of Irises and Tiger Lilies. The glass-like rays behind her shine shimmer with the reflecting qualities of...'Pearlescents'. This saucey rendition of Janis speaks to the free spirit of her soul, living loud and proud, which became the doorway into the forever continuing concert of her own soul. Another super unique and one-of-a-kind memorial art piece of one of the greatest singers in rock & roll history & the 60's freedom, love & music movement.
